Dog is a truly loyal and undeniably lovely animal; however, some people don’t find it comfortable when their dogs sleep with them on bed every night and leave hair almost everywhere. Even though, they deserve to receive a careful attention, rather than being blamed for what they didn’t mean to do. Therefore, an outdoor house is one of the best choices.
Making a Woodhouse is quite more simple and quicker than you think. It only takes a little time to turn some cheap materials into a cozy home for your pet.
The material for making dog’s house should be the primary consideration because different dog breeds have different needs of facilities. But overall, most dog have the same basic needs: a dry, clean and fit in space.
There is a wide range of kind of wood for you to choose to make the house. Pallet wood is recommended for its low cost and ever-ready availability at wood store. Moreover, you need to prepare some materials and tools including a saw, a staple gun and paint.
- The floor:
First, saw wood into a nearly-square shape of which sides’ length is approximately equal to the length of your dog. If you want to place the woodhouse on the outdoor floor of your house, firmly attach the corners of the wood to the floor by screws. Now, the base would be steady and permanent.
- The walls:
Prepare four corner framing bars which have the same height as your dog. Fasten each bar to the edge of the walls. Secure the walls to the base with galvanized wood screws driven every 4-5 inches around the perimeter. Next, make the front gate of the house with the size that your dog can get in easily.
- The gate:
Let’s start by sawing wood into two rectangle pieces with on-top-triangle. Then leave an opening on one piece wood to make a door and the other piece will the back of the house. Finally, use screws to attach these pieces to the house’s floor.
- The roof:
Take a wood board to make a roof at the top. Place a layer of asphalt to fake a roof tile.
If you can’t afford asphalt, use tile instead; so that you can make it sloping. This not only helps avoiding the rain, but also a good place for your pup to stretch out after taking a nap, since size of its apartment is not very large.
You can help your pet feel more comfortable and have a warm sleep by stuffing a blanket or just a thin piece of cloth on the floor.
Pick your favorite color and paint the walls. Remember not to use noxious paint. Create a secure layer of impregnation resin about the roof, this will help keep the house dry and protect your pup from zona disease. You can also decorate it with a nameboard, a bell or some other toys to make it look more appealing, it’s up to you.
