Top 7 Common Foods That Are Toxic To Your Dogs

‘Health is better than wealth’
A dog is not only a human's companion, a friend but also a member of the family. This mean dog's health should always be one of the first concerns to the owner and feeding dog is one of the most important things in dogs' caring.
Some foods which you often use to feed your dogs are safe but there are times when you want to treat them with new kind of food. Before you do that, let’s take a look at some listed food below for they may be poisoned to your dog.
1. Grapes & raisins:
Surprisingly, grapes and raisins will decrease your dog's health and the most dangerous effect is Kidney Failure. A small amount of them can cause your dog illness and depression.
Symptoms: Vomiting over and over.
2. Avocado:
Although avocado seems to be harmless for human without any allergies, dogs are different. Persin, which is an available substance in avocado, can poison your dog with a large amount of it. Additionally, Persin can be found in leaves, seeds, trees cortex as well as fruits. It is best to keep your dogs away from them to guarantee their health.
3. Human chocolate (white, dark and cake):
The Theobromine from this sweet candy can drive your dogs to the verge of death. The substance in chocolate is harmless to human but not dogs because their body cannot consume it and will be ill.
Symptoms: vomit, diarrhea, heart problems, tremors, seizures.
These symptoms can take 6 to 12 hours to show up.
4. Onion & garlic:
Keep onions and garlic (sliced, raw or even cooked) away from your dog. They can kill its red blood cells and cause anemia. A small amount is probably fine but a lot can cause poisoning.
Symptoms: weakness, vomiting, and breathing problems, anorexia, orange or dark red urine.
5. Persimmon, Plum, Peach:
The problem with these fruits is their seeds. The seeds from persimmons cause problems to dog's small intestine. They can block his intestines. The also happens if a dog eats the seed from a peach or a plum. Peach and plum seeds have cyanide which is poisonous to people and dogs. Human is able to acknowledge and avoid eating them but dogs cannot. Therefore, it is necessary to keep an eye on your dog and keep them away from poisonous seed.
6. Salty food:
Eating salty products makes the dog thirsty. As a result, urination and even sodium ion poisoning can occur if your dog has too much salty food such as chips, popcorn, and pretzels. Therefore, you need to be careful and feed your dogs with less salty products. Limit it as less as possible.
Symptoms: vomiting, diarrhea, depression, tremors, high temperature, and seizures.
7. Sweet candy:
Sweet foods with xylitol-sweet create the substance which makes dogs lose appetite and release insulin rapidly in the pancreas. This results in Hypoglycemia which decreases blood sugar levels in dogs. Furthermore, sweet candy makes dogs feel full easily and this leads to breaking their digest process.
Symptoms: vomiting, lethargy, weakness, seizures, and liver failure.
Apart from these foods,
you should keep an eye on your dogs since many dogs often eat everything in their sight (baby toys, buttons, needles, pins, and big bones). These things will stick and properly puncture your dog's' stomach. Sometimes, we cannot predict or control everything completely. When your dogs unluckily eat those things above, you should take them to the vet immediately or else their lives will be at risk.
So which is the healthiest and safest food for your dogs? Here are some
recommendations:
1. Banana:
We can't deny the benefits of banana for both human and dogs. Banana is rich in Potassium and vitamin C which makes it a super food for your dog's' health. These source of nutrients in the banana can provide your dogs with energy and contribute to making a healthy heart. Additionally, there is also vitamin B6 in banana that promotes healthy brain function by producing neuro hormones in dog’s body.
2. Carrot:
Rich in nutrients and low in calories, carrot is a perfect choice for dogs, especially for the obesity one. This crunchy legume will satisfy the need of your dog to chew and improve dental health.
All in all, dog feeding should be more concerned and if this issue is neglected, your dogs would be at risk.
